John Lewis Leeds has selected the community projects it will give its third round of funding to as part of Leeds Community Foundation (LCF)’s Leeds Fund and #GiveLoveLeeds grants scheme.

The regional flagship store has chosen 30 Leeds-based groups to support in its final months of being anchor partner for The Leeds Fund.

Altogether, the 30 projects chosen will receive more than £50,000 of funding to help support their ongoing efforts in the community.

Some of the projects selected include:
–          Come And Meet Each Other: The initiative will host a number of activities, such as trips out and arts and crafts sessions, with the aim of helping reduce feelings of social isolation.
–          105 Women: The donation will enable the project to open for an extra day for 12 weeks and use this extra day to organise field trips and fund group activities.
–          Be Present Workshops: The donation will provide a total of 18 weekly music workshops at residential care homes or day care centres.
–          English4AllinLeeds: Thanks to the donation, the charity will be able to continue its activities for a further 25 weeks, offering three hours of English tuition, free of charge, to those who need it most.

James Prince, head of branch at John Lewis Leeds, said: “We were delighted to invest in The Leeds Fund as anchor partners and play our part to help some incredible causes across the region. The Leeds Fund is the strategic fund for the city that responds to need – and does so through the expertise of the people that work for Leeds Community Foundation. It is a pleasure to work with such a professional and creative team that truly understands the city’s diversity and helps us fulfill one of our founding principles – to contribute to the wellbeing of the communities where we operate.”

Kate Hainsworth, deputy CEO of LCF, said: “This has been a truly great year for LCF and we’re delighted to have been able to support a diverse mix of groups and projects across Leeds.

“We’ve been so grateful to John Lewis for its support; it has made a huge difference. But we can’t stop here and there’s much more to do, which is why we are speaking to potential new Anchor Partners to help us continue our good work in 2018.”
