Filmore & Union invests £100,000 in York restaurant

Food and drink chain Filmore & Union is investing £100,000 in its York restaurant.

The Petergate venue, which opened in 2012 as the first Filmore & Union store of the now 14-strong chain, will re-launch in November with a new ‘health-inspired neighbourhood dining’ concept which will be more focused on being an evening destination.

This follows the announcement in September that Filmore & Union had secured £3.5m from Business Growth Fund (BGF) to aid its expansion plans across the North of England and nationwide.

It also follows the opening of the Filmore & Union concession within John Lewis York in June 2017, which marked the start of a long term partnership with the department store.

Founder Adele Ashley says: “York Petergate was our first restaurant and we are very proud of its place in the city. We always aim to surprise our customers and bring them something that they can’t find elsewhere so now feels like the right time to give the restaurant a makeover and add something extra special to the offer, especially as an evening destination.

“The interior will evolve our signature Filmore & Union Scandi style, making it an even more inviting setting, and the new menu will see our chefs and nutritionists experimenting with new flavours and ingredients that can’t be found elsewhere in the city. We’re keen to attract new customers into the restaurant, especially men, who may have previously thought of us as day time health food café.”
