Burberry office opens

Burberry has opened its new office in Leeds at 6 Queen Street, which will house 400 staff.
Burberry Business Services (BBS) will see staff from Burberry’s finance, HR, procurement, customer service and IT teams come together to simplify processes and teamwork across functions. The numbers of jobs to be housed in the building is 100 more than originally announced earlier this year.
The retailer has taken four floors in the city centre building. A recruitment drive has now begun and Burberry plans to have over 400 roles in the Leeds office by the end of next year.
Some roles have moved from Horseferry House in London and others are new. Burberry is now proposing to move a number of roles in its IT teams to Leeds and this is still under consultation. The teams have been notified and Burberry envisages these roles will move to Leeds in summer 2018, subject to consultation.
Earlier this year Burberry let an option lapse on the Grade I listed Temple Works building in Leeds’ South Bank. The firm still owns land in Leeds and a few weeks ago reiterated that it is committed to Yorkshire.
The retailer could develop the ten acres of land it owns next to the building or maintain the sites it owns at Castleford and Cross Hills. Another option would be to build a new green field site.
