Events space revealed for £6m development

A 3,000 sq ft events space is set to open this spring on the 12th floor of K2, Hull city centre’s £6m mixed-use development.
Icarus Lounge will give guests panoramic views across the city to Spurn Point and over the Humber to Lincolnshire. The events space, along with the 2,000sq ft Sky Garden rooftop, will be available to hire for corporate events, wedding receptions and private functions.
The lounge is a joint venture between Tradepark, the developers behind K2, and corporate hospitality specialists Saunts, based in Pocklington. Plans have been approved, with the space expected to be ready in May.
Mark Butters, director at Tradepar, said: “Icarus Lounge will bring something really unique to Hull. So many of the UK’s cities have rooftop bars and skyline spaces for events. We felt this was something we needed here in East Yorkshire and will add another dimension to K2. We are delighted to be working with Saunts on this element of the project. As one of the region’s leading catering and events specialists, they have the experience and expertise to make Icarus Lounge a success.”
Lesley Mercer, managing director of Saunts, added: “All of us at Saunts are absolutely thrilled to be part of this exciting project. A facility like K2 and Icarus Lounge has been a long time coming. Hull has been crying out for high-end event and party facilities for far too long. We are really looking forward to working with the K2 team and ensuring that Icarus Lounge delivers everything it promises.”
Beverley-based Tradepark purchased Kingston House via NPS in August. Work began on site in September, with the first office space opened in February.
