Voting underway for Rainmakers Awards in Yorkshire

Yorkshire Rainmakers 2017

Businesses, corporate finance firms and lenders in the region are voting in this year’s Yorkshire Rainmaker Awards.

The awards, which celebrate the deals community and the work they carry out, will be presented at a lunchtime event on Friday 13 July at The Queens hotel in Leeds.

The Rainmakers is different because the winners are voted on by the corporate finance community themselves in a one firm, one vote system.

This year’s shortlist  was drawn up after a judging day involving four leading figures who have in depth knowledge of the corporate finance and deals sector in the region, including former EY managing partner Stuart Watson, NED and former finance director at Callcredit Liz Richards, former Deloitte managing partner Martin Jenkins and founding partner of Shulmans, Jeremy Shulman.

Leading specialist recruitment company Michael Page has been confirmed as headline sponsor for this year’s awards.

Tickets for the prestigious event are now on sale and further details are available online.

This year’s awards will be presented in the following categories:

International Deal of the Year Advisers who have worked on a high value strategically important transaction involving a non-UK based purchaser or vendor.

Public Markets Deal of the Year This award recognises the Public Markets deal – IPO, acquisition or disposal – that has achieved significance through either value, complexity or strategic importance.

Deal of the Year. Consisting of private equity, private markets and M&A deals, this category recognises an impactful deal across the region.

Small Cap Deal of the Year This award is for the most strategically important regional transaction worth up to £15m. This award recognises outstanding technical skill and pragmatism.

Rainmaker of the Year The outstanding professional in Yorkshire corporate finance who has consistently been at the heart of the significant transactions over the past 12 months.

Rainmaker’s Dream Team This new award for 2018 consists of corporate finance, funder, legal, private equity, and transaction services teams whose combined efforts can together make the very best team across Yorkshire.

An online survey has now been sent out to more than 100 companies across the region inviting them to cast their votes in the  categories in order to make the system as fair and balanced as possible.
