Construction starts on speculative industrial site

Work has started on a speculatively built industrial site in Leeds.

Caddick Construction has been appointed to deliver the scheme on behalf of industrial and commercial property specialists Towngate.

The site is located in Cross Green and will include a series of portal framed warehouses with metal cladding.

Construction of the first phase, units TL1 (55,000 sq ft) and TL2 (62,500 sq ft) is already underway, with the project set to be completed in February 2019.

The site adds to Caddick’s industrial expertise, which includes recently completed projects at Crosspoint 33 in Knottingley, a 1.3 million sq. ft. distribution centre for TJX Europe that was forward sold to Tritax Big Box REIT and Tunstall Arrow, a 28-acre five-unit speculative industrial development near Stoke-on-Trent.

Andrew Murray, managing director at Caddick Construction, said: “As a Yorkshire-based, family business, it’s great to be working with another local business specialising in industrial property, which is a huge growth area not just for us but the real estate sector as a whole.”

Robert Smith, managing director at Towngate, said: “Caddick Construction have a proven track record of delivering institutional-grade assets, and as we look to capitalise on growing demand for industrial space in the North we couldn’t ask for a better delivery partner.”
