Plans approved for new 554-apartment development

Planning consent has been secured for a new residential development comprising 554 apartments in Bradford.

The scheme of six apartment blocks will include a mix of one, two and three-bedroom flats, and two commercial units.

Pegasus Group secured reserved matters consent on behalf of Manchester Road Development One Ltd, a Yorkshire Ventures company, for the development on Manchester Road.

Alongside planning services, Pegasus Group provided full architectural and landscape design services.

The approved plans also include parking for 118 cars, green spaces between the buildings and a newly created courtyard.

Nigel Cussen, planning director in Pegasus Group’s Leeds office, said: “This development will create both high quality buildings and a sense of place – it is set to be a real asset to the local community.

“The hard work put into the application ensured a smooth process through to the decision resulting in the application being approved by the council’s Planning Officers through delegated powers.”

Richard Jackson, MBE DL chairman of Yorkshire Ventures, added: “We’re delighted, to finally get this consent with the great support and innovation of Pegasus Group and indeed Bradford Council. We now look forward to progressing this development at the soonest possible opportunity.”

Cussen said: “Careful consideration was been given to the design of each building, not only terms of appearance but how they are sited and landscaped within the site to create a visually pleasing aesthetic that compliments the surrounding townscape.

“The design takes reference from historic building throughout Bradford; brick detailing is used in areas to add interest and this theme is used to elevate the building that surround the site. A variation in cladding adds further to the design, highlighting key point.”
