New restaurant and bar to open in revamped Grade-II listed town hall

A new restaurant and bar is set to launch in the former Malton Town Hall.

The Stew & Oyster brand has signed a new lease to open at the Grade-II listed building in April.

The town hall has undergone a £380,000 refurbishment by property management company, the Fitzwilliam (Malton) Estate. The property has been sensitively renovated with many of its original features restored by craftsmen.

Established in 2009, Stew & Oyster launched its first site in Calls Landing, Leeds, and now operates five venues across Yorkshire. The Malton site will be the brand’s sixth.

Helen Barry, estate manager for the Fitzwilliam Estate, said: “We are delighted that we have been able to attract Stew & Oyster to come to Malton and we’re very impressed with their approach to jointly undertaking this significant renovation of our flagship building in the Market Place.

“We are very much looking forward to seeing this lovely building come alive, for residents and visitors during the day and into the evening, and welcoming Stew & Oyster to the town.”

The Fitzwilliam Estate were advised by leisure property specialist Fleurets in the marketing of the property.
