Funding secured to deliver additional 1,300 new homes across Yorkshire

A further 1,300 new homes for r shared ownership, affordable rent and new social rent, are set to be delivered across Yorkshire.

This announcement follows on from Yorkshire Housing securing additional grant funding from Homes England.

The funding  is part Homes England’s latest round of housing associations that receive funding as of part of its strategic partnership approach.

Andy Gamble, director of development at Yorkshire Housing, said: “We are delighted to have received the support of Homes England for the next round of strategic partnerships and we are looking forward to getting started on this new initiative.

“The extra funding will help us deliver an additional 1,300 homes beyond our existing strategic priority to complete 3,120 homes before March 2021.

“The sector faces a desperate need for new social homes and partnerships like this will help us deliver and keep our customers at the forefront of what we do.”

Will Lifford, chair of Yorkshire Housing, added: “The announcement today builds on our ambitious growth strategy to build more new homes in the Yorkshire region.

“This deal will enable us to continue to play a major part in addressing the housing crisis and provide genuinely affordable homes in Yorkshire”.

Yorkshire Housing is one of the region’s largest social housing providers managing 18,000 affordable and social rent homes, with plans to build 3,120 more by 2021.
