Nightclub leaseholder completes acquisition of café and coffee shop

House of Koko, a café and coffee shop in the Chapel Allerton district of Leeds, has been acquired by a business owner in the licensed sector.

Comprising an open plan dining area for up to 22 covers and an outside terrace for 30 covers, House of Koko is situated within an urban residential area close to the city centre.

Previous owners, Chris Ball and Shanshan Zhu decided to sell the leasehold of House of Koko as they are planning to move to Bali.

The property was acquired by Rosita Roger, who is a current leaseholder of the nightclub and music venue, Distrikt Bar, in Leeds city centre. Roger plans to further grow House of Koko by extending the food offering to evening trade.

Christie & Co, the specialist business property adviser, completed the sale of the cafe.

Ball and Zhu said: “After many years of successful trade and good memories, we are now moving on to the next chapter of our lives and wish the new owner all the best. Christie & Co showed great professionalism and persistence throughout the process and helped us get over the line in a good amount of time.”

Roger added: “I’m grateful for the help of Business Agent, Sam Ashton of Christie & Co. I am excited to get going on my new business venture in 2019 and drive the business further. I hope to retain the previous customers and bring in lots of new. Please call in and make yourself at home.”

Sam Ashton, business agent at Christie & Co, also said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the marketing and sale of this business. We achieved lots of interest from a handful of parties within weeks of marketing and within one month we agreed a deal with an offer over the asking price, which is a great result.

“House of Koko is a great brand which Rosita has inherited with the business and I wish her the best of luck for the future.”

House of Koko was sold off an asking price of £75,000 for the leasehold interest.
