250 jobs to be created on proposed £25m mixed-use development

Plans have been submitted for the £25m redevelopment of a derelict site opposite Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield.

Formerly a Kennings Truck Centre which closed in the mid-1980s, the site has been more recently used as a car park on Sheffield Wednesday match days.

Property developers Jaguar Estates and Bridges Fund Management are looking to regenerate the 10-acre plot on Penistone Road North with a mix of retail, drive-through restaurants and industrial units.

Designed by architects, The Harris Partnership, the proposed development will comprise three retail units, eight storage and distribution units, two drive-through restaurants and one vehicle maintenance and repair facility, with access roads.

Works on the scheme, which will create up to 250 jobs, are scheduled to commence before the end of the year subject to planning consent.
