Weekender: New gym and cafe concept opens in city centre

A new health and wellbeing concept has opened in the redeveloped Stonebow House in York city centre.

The new fitness venue, which has created 21 jobs, offers a full range of gym equipment alongside studio space for classes, a spa recovery zone and a healthy eating café.

Supersonic has been created by Nick Sadler and Sarah Cleland-Smith, who are both based in York.

Sadler said: “We’ve created Supersonic to be more than just a gym; it’s a sanctuary ready to welcome you with open arms and support your personal goals for total lifestyle transformation.

“The space has been designed to make you feel good and help you to lead a healthier lifestyle – whether that’s working out, practicing mindfulness, aiding recovery, meeting friends or nourishing yourself with great food.”

The facility also offers a yoga and meditation space, spa-standard changing facilities and living plant walls. To aid in recovery, there is injury rehab and return-to-fitness support and a recovery zone with infrared and ice recovery.

The café features low-level seating and at-bar dining, serving fresh and organic meals, snacks and drinks.

Supersonic is open now and memberships start from £78 a month, with taster classes are available at £6 per session.
