Latest appointments: Tunstall CEO named; New MD for manufacturers’ organisation; and more

GIL Baldwin has been appointed as the new chief executive of Tunstall Healthcare Group.

Mr Baldwin replaces James Buckley, who stepped down from the role at the Yorkshire-based company last year.

Tunstall provides early warning systems that tell friends or carers if an older person is in danger or has collapsed.

Mr Baldwin has joined Tunstall from Aviva, where he was managing director of the company’s healthcare business.

THE manufacturers’ organisation EEF has appointed Terry Scuoler as its new chief executive.

After serving as an infantry officer for five years, Mr Scuoler started his commercial career in publishing and the construction industry.

He then joined Royal Ordnance – now part of BAE Systems – as European marketing manager where he worked in a number of divisions in the UK and overseas in commercial, procurement, project and general management roles.

In 1999 he became managing director of Ferranti Technologies, which specialises in supplying avionic and mission planning sub systems, power and control solutions to the aerospace and defence markets.

Mr Scuoler will be responsible for enhancing EEF’s representation role as the voice of manufacturing at a crucial time for the sector and the UK economy.

He will also lead the further development of EEF’s business services in employment law, occupational health and safety and environmental services

CLECKHEATON accountancy practice Clough & Company has seen two of its staff complete their professional tax exams.

After two years of studying in her spare time, accountant Joanne Royle has gained her Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) qualification and will now go on to study to become a chartered accountant.

James Fraser has qualified as a chartered tax adviser after studying for the exam in his free time.

Practice chairman Steven Gash said: “We’re very proud of James and Joanne and we’re looking forward to seeing them put their new skills and knowledge to good use and further advance in their careers with Clough & Company, where they have extremely bright futures ahead of them.”

THE sales director of JM Glendinning Life and Pensions has been promoted to managing director.

Richard Carr took over as head of the financial services division of the Guiseley-based independent insurance brokers five years ago.

He said: “To be recognised for my contribution and given this new responsibility makes me especially proud.”

In his new role supported by co-director Andy Holder, Mr Carr has his sights set on ensuring the firm is well prepared for the stringent new regulations due to be introduced by the Financial Services Authority.

Fiona WhartonCOMIC Relief’s first ever in-house lawyer has joined Leeds law firm Ward Hadaway.

Fiona Wharton worked at the charity for four years advising it on a wide range of issues.

She is now bringing her expertise to Ward Hadaway where she will work as an associate in the firm’s growing charities team.

Ms Wharton joins Ward Hadaway after four years at the charities team at Leeds-based firm Wrigleys.

SHEFFIELD Chamber of Commerce has announced a string of staffing changes.

Following a review of the organisation’s structure the Chamber has adjusted the roles of some of its existing staff to reflect the current and new membership services.

Paul Reeves becomes the director of membership services and will also be responsible for managing both the Chamber’s overseas contracts and the policy and representation team.

Brenda Jordan has been appointed as director of human resources and operations, which will include co-ordination of the Chamber’s internal contacts, leases and facilities management.

Mark Headleand takes on the role of HR and operations co-ordinator, Ann Goodyear has started her position as finance manager and Jenny Hurman has been appointed as graphic design co-ordinator. Iain Smith has been promoted to the role of policy and representation manager.

The changes coincide with the departure of Helen Rana, who is relocating to Bristol, and Debra Foster, who is starting a new career in South Africa.

Nigel Tomlinson, chief executive of the Sheffield Chamber, said: “The changes to individuals’ roles are extremely important. They will not only maximise our aims and objectives for the year ahead but provide strong and effective support and advice to members across the city region.”
