An Office Outlet store in North Yorkshire has been named as one of 16 branches that are set to close after falling into administration.

The stationery retailer, which used to be part of the Staples store chain, is putting 161 jobs at risk with the closure of nine stores on the 7 April and then a further seven on 10 April.

According to the BBC, a branch in Catterick is expected to close on 7 April, resulting in 13 redundancies.

Office Outlet, which went into administration last month, operates 90 stores throughout the UK.

Business services firm Deloitte has appointed as its administrators.

Richard Hawes, joint administrator from Deloitte, said: “While we are still open to a sale of the business in part or in whole, we cannot continue trading all the stores indefinitely in an administration process.

“Regrettably therefore we are announcing store closures that will result in a number of redundancies. We will be keeping staff informed of further developments in the coming weeks in what is a difficult time for all those involved.”
