Property People: Law firm welcomes new head of property; CBRE hires senior director from PwC

Raworths Solicitors has announced the senior appointment of Ann Laverty as its head of property.

A new position for the firm, the role comes as the firm brings both its residential and commercial property services into one division.

Laverty has experience of dealing with both residential and commercial property work and led a large team in her previous role at Lupton Fawcett where she was head of residential.

Her career to date has seen her represent landowners, developers, landed estates and rural businesses, in addition to universities, town and parish councils. She can advise on both traditional property transactions and more diverse interests, such as renewable energy projects, sporting rights and mineral exploitation.

She said: “This role represents a great opportunity for me. Raworths has an excellent and trusted reputation and this new property structure will enhance client’s experience, providing them with a comprehensive, more agile service.”

CBRE has appointed Guy Hurwood as a senior director in its Northern capital markets business.

Hurwood will join the company’s Leeds office leadership and is a key strategic hire for the team as it continues to grow its capital markets capabilities in Yorkshire and the North East.

He joins from PwC where he spent the last six years in the real estate corporate finance team, the past three of which he was PwC’s real estate deals North leader.

Prior to that he spent five years at JLL Corporate Finance.

In his new role Guy will be responsible for growing CBRE’s Capital Markets offering in the region, including the development funding and strategic consultancy offer.

His corporate finance background will be influential in aligning CBRE’s extensive regional investment expertise with its specialist real estate finance capabilities, spearheaded by CBRE Capital Advisors.

He will be working closely with private investors, funds, public sector and international capital to service the increasing demand from investments outside of London and the South East.
