People: Senior surveyor appointed; Exec chairman at growing firm; New chair for listed digital group; Financial adviser joins team; and more

Ella Woodward has joined Cushman & Wakefield’s Development & Planning team in Leeds as a Senior Surveyor.

She joins from GVA, now Avison Young, where she was part of the Manchester-based Development Consulting team, advising private and public sector clients across the North West on a range of development schemes.

Woodward was previously with Colliers International and holds a First class Masters in Planning and Real Estate from the University of Manchester.

In her new role she will using her development consultancy experience to provide advice to existing and new clients. She will be supporting on retained advisory mandates including Enterprise Zones, HS2 masterplanning and large-scale residential sites as well as supporting with the growth of Cushman & Wakefield’s Economic Development and Appraisal offer.

She will report to Ben Pretty, Partner, Development & Planning in Leeds. Pretty said: “We are delighted to welcome Ella to our Leeds Development team. We are continuing to advise a number of key public and private sector clients across the region on all aspects of land and property development and infrastructure-led economic growth across all sectors. Cushman & Wakefield has an 11-strong Development & Planning team in Leeds which works with a range of public and private sector clients including the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Leeds City Council, Kirklees Council and Harworth Estates.

Tom Rumboll has joined the SYNETIQ team as the Executive Chairma having played a pivotal role in helping a recent major merger go through.

The Doncaster-headquartered company was formed following the successful merger of Car Transplants, Motorhog, FAB Recycling and DH Systems. It now has 507 employees spread across 16 sites nationwide and has an expected turnover of £120m in its first year.

As the largest UK owned salvage and vehicle recycling company SYNETIQ create intelligent solutions for some of the countries’ leading Insurers, company fleets and police forces.  SYNETIQ are trusted to process vehicles through auctions, green parts sales, and recycling processes.

Richard Martin MD of SYNETIQ and former MD of Motorhog originally sought Rumboll’s help to be an independent guide through the merger process. Rumboll had worked with Motorhog before in his previous life at Lloyds and had supported Motorhog with several acquisitions.

The Executive Chairman role was created to formalise and drive through major changes post-merger. Rumboll ceased his successful company TR Advisory so that he could commit 100% of his time to SYNETIQ and its very exciting future. He said: “To be involved in a company that is always at the forefront of innovation is a real privilege.”

Chase de Vere, the Independent Financial Advisers, has appointed Amarjit Bansal as a Personal Injury and Court of Protection (PICOP) Independent Financial Adviser based from its Leeds office.

He will head up Chase de Vere’s PICOP advice service in Leeds and expand the service throughout Yorkshire.

The PICOP team provides specialist financial advice to vulnerable people, typically those who are recipients of Court of Protection Awards from having suffered catastrophic injuries.

The Chase de Vere PICOP team provides a fully comprehensive service in helping clients manage personal injury awards, including investment advice to meet capital and income needs, trust services to help protect entitlement to means-tested benefits including local authority funding and deputyship services in Court of Protection matters. Bansal has been advising private individuals since 2002 and has specialised in advising those with catastrophic injury awards in Yorkshire for the past 13 years, including as an adviser for a national law firm which specialises in providing personal injury and Court of Protection advice.

Bansal has attained Chartered Fellowship status through the CISI and has completed the CISI Level 6 Private Client Investment Advice and Management qualification.

Away from work, Bansal is a proud Yorkshireman who lives in Leeds. For several years he has volunteered and is a trustee of an emergency disaster relief charity that works in war zones and disaster areas. As part of this he has run a project, and made a number of trips to Northern Iraq, to help women and children returning from capture and kidnap.

Gillian Wilmot is being appointed to the board as chairman at Sheffield-based ZOO Digital Group, which provides cloud-based localisation and digital distribution services to the global entertainment industry.

Her appointment comes into effect from 1 July 2019. Wilmot, who will also chair the Remuneration Committee and act as a member of the Audit Committee, will replace Roger Jeynes, who will step down from the Board after nine years.

Along with extensive board level leadership roles in both private and public company environments, Wilmot brings industry experience across B2B, technology, advertising and communication sectors.

Her executive career encompasses 30 years at companies including Marks & Spencer, Boots, Avon Cosmetics, Littlewoods and Royal Mail.

Her board level experience includes Non Executive Director at Admiral plc; Chairman of ClearlySo, Europe’s Leading Impact Investment Bank; Chairman of technology disruptor Jisp.com, working with the founder CEO since start-up; and Chairman of Senet Group, working with CEOs of quoted and private international businesses to transform responsible gambling across digital and retail; among other roles.
