Weekender: Additional flights added to Southampton route

Eastern Airways is increasing services from Leeds Bradford Airport to Southampton from September.

The airline will operate up to three flights a day, Monday to Thursday, through its Flybe franchise services.

From 9 September 2019, there will be a 1.10pm afternoon service from Leeds Bradford and a 3pm flight from Southampton as part of its weekday offering.

The new afternoon flights increase capacity by a third with up to 15 flights a week in each direction and allow for onward connections on Flybe services.

The additional flights on the Leeds Bradford-Southampton route add to the peak 6.50am and 5.10pm southbound departures to Southampton and northbound 8.40am and 7pm flights to Leeds Bradford.

Eastern Airways has been providing flights Leeds Bradford – Southampton business route for over 13 years.

Roger Hage, Eastern Airways’ General Manager Commercial & Operations, said: “We are offering greater choice and more flexibility for Yorkshire business and leisure travellers on our Leeds Bradford – Southampton service by operating these additional flights on behalf of Flybe.  Not only is it key to further enhance the strong trade links between both regions, but we have also expanded onward Flybe connections from Southampton.”

Yorkshire and Humber based Eastern Airways was formed in 1997 and operates a core network of schedule flights serving predominantly the North Sea oil and gas industry.  The airline also specialises in providing charter services for the oil and gas industry, corporate and sports contracts and ad-hoc charters
