Engineering business moves into expanded premises

A national firm of consulting engineers is to expand into Sheffield’s Meadowhall Business Park.

jnpgroup will move into 2,300 sq ft at ARBA Group’s recently refurbished multi-million pound business park later this year.

The new offices will allow the firm, which also has bases in Brighouse, Leamington Spa, Chesham and Hartlepool, to relocate from its smaller Sheffield office at Meadowhall Riverside as part of growth plans.

jnp joins Tata Steel and Eaton Commercial Property Consultants to complete the line-up in the 15,000 sq ft Block MBP2 on Carbrook Hall Road, leaving 7,500 sq ft remaining on the 72,000 sq ft business park.

Richard Burns, director at ARBA Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome another business, attracted by the quality of the refurbishment, the city centre amenities in an out-of-town location, the local, regional and national transport links and the flexibility of the space.

“All that remains at MBP now is 7,500 sq ft of ready-to-occupy refurbished space in building four which is over two floors in the block, already part occupied by CapGemini, and includes parking for up to 20 vehicles.”

Daniel Sykes, Associate Director and Office Head at jnpgroup Sheffield, said: “The move to MBP2 shows our commitment to growth, having added new disciplines this year in the Sheffield office of traffic and transportation and geo-environmental along with growing our structures and civils capacity.

“We look forward to the further growth supporting our work across many sectors, including but not limited to leisure, residential, pre-planning, commercial and rail which this move allows.”

The company, which employs 15 people in Sheffield, was founded in 1980 as John Newton & Partners by John Newton & Alan Brackley. It now offers design and consultancy solutions for the built environment.

Its services include civil engineering, consulting, flood risk, geo-environmental, green energy, rail, structural engineering and transport planning with the firm boasting high profile regional clients.

Other tenants at the business park include Community, GMB Union, CapGemini, Tuffnells, NG Bailey, Auburn Ainsley, Chique Photography, KitchenEx, Preventx, Wilford Smith and Galaxy Insulation and Dry Lining (Holdings). More than 500 staff are employed at the site.

The Sheffield office of Knight Frank and Campbell & Co are marketing the remaining space at the business park, which is located opposite IKEA, less than a mile from junction 34 of the M1 and two miles from Junction 33 of the M1.
