Engineering and maintenance firm wins four-year contract with Yorkshire Water

Freedom, part of the Ilkley-headquartered NG Bailey Group, has won a place on Yorkshire Water’s high voltage electrical design and maintenance framework.

The framework, which is worth £55m overall, will deliver high voltage electrical works and services, including the design, build, installation, refurbishment and support services, along with providing routine planned and reactive inspection and maintenance to Yorkshire Water’s existing high voltage equipment.

Freedom has been associated with Yorkshire Water for more than 30 years delivering the utility provider’s grounds maintenance programme, and for the last three years providing countryside management services.

The business will now work with Yorkshire Water on a programme to provide a range of design and maintenance services for the company’s high voltage systems and infrastructure.

As part of the wider framework, over a four-year period, Freedom will undertake: design for high voltage systems to Yorkshire Water’s existing high voltage infrastructure; design fault and protection studies to the high voltage infrastructure at 17 Yorkshire Water’s sites; design for in-house full design and build of individual projects across Yorkshire Water’s estate; and routine planned and reactive inspection and maintenance of high voltage equipment in Yorkshire Water’s southern area.

Peter Jones, Managing Director of NG Bailey’s services division, said: “Freedom has worked with Yorkshire Water for more than 30 years and we are delighted to extend our relationship with them through the provision of high voltage design and maintenance services.

“We are looking forward to working closely with Yorkshire Water as a strategic partner using our technical expertise to support them in achieving their goals.”

Martin Priestley, Senior Engineering Project Manager at Yorkshire Water, added: “We are very pleased to have Freedom engaged as one of our framework suppliers for the provision of design build and maintenance work.

“We are confident this appointment will contribute to the consistent and efficient provision of safe, quality, reliable assets that will in turn help us to ensure that we provide the level of service that our customers expect and value.”
