Growing textile firm secures 10-year lease on refurbished mill complex

A property investment company has agreed a 10-year lease from its anchor tenant at Wheatley Park in Mirfield – global textile innovator Camira Fabrics

Mirfield-based Mitha Enterprise acquired the multi-million pound Wheatley Park commercial development, in which Camira is based, in January 2018. Built in 1812 as a textile mill, the global fabric design and manufacturing company now occupies the 13,000 sq ft as its international headquarters, overlooking the original mill pond that makes the building only accessible by footbridge.

Grant Russell, CEO of Camira Fabrics, said:  “We’re delighted to have secured another decade at The Watermill in Wheatley Park. Camira has made a home here, and it’s a perfect fit for us in many ways – not only does it have a rich history as an 18th century textile mill, reflecting our own heritage, but its countryside location encourages creative design and complements our leading position in environmental sustainability. Our global customers are always inspired by visits to Wheatley Park and enjoy coming here.”

The historic 1812 buildings were refurbished in 2011 to maintain their original character.  Now it is fully let by tenants including The Bigger Boat, Fishtank, 10 Associates and Primal Pantry.

Ayub Mitha of Mitha Enterprise added:  “It’s especially pleasing to have an anchor tenant like Camira Fabrics sign up to a lease of 10 years in such a short period since our acquisition, as it underpins our working relationship and its potential for further growth and expansion. I would like to take this opportunity to express gratitude to Camira for their co-operation throughout the lease negotiations.”
