Closure warning as road widening scheme begins

Work is due to start on a £140,000 scheme to widen a road at Easington in Holderness.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is due to begin work on Monday 23 September to improve Warmer Lane. The work is expected to take five weeks to complete and will involve widening the existing carriageway and replacing a drainage culvert.

During that time Warmer Lane will be closed to all through traffic, from the gas terminal to Out Newton Road. A signed diversion will be in place from Easington to Patrington via the B1445, and to Withernsea via the A1033 to Holmpton.

The work will be carried out by the council’s own Streetscene Services.

Dave Waudby, Head of Infrastructure and Facilities at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “We are carrying out this work to widen the road along Warmer Lane because of damage which has been caused to the verges by vehicles over a number of years.

“We’d like to thank local residents and motorists for their patience while we carry out these improvements.”
