Job losses as Slater & Gordon shuts Leeds office

The Leeds office of law firm Slater and Gordon is closing down.

The company confirmed the news in a brief statement released today. A spokesman for the firm said: “We have introduced new technology and processes that allow us to work more efficiently and provide a better experience for our customers.

“Consequently, we are closing our Leeds office and relocating the work to other locations.”

The statement did not say how many employees have been affected. But a report on the closure in The Law Society Gazette states that “around 25 fee earners”, working in crime and personal injury, have been made redundant.

Slater and Gordon has offices across the country, including branches in Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham. Its services include personal injury, property, family, employment, medical negligence and wills and trusts.

It was granted a UK licence in 2012 and separated from its listed Australian parent company in 2017 to become an independent firm.
