Pre-pack sale of car body and collision repair business

Barnsley Body Shop, a car body and collision repair firm, has been sold in a pre-pack deal to Rolds Motor Bodies.

The sale was completed by Quantuma partners Rehan Ahmed and Maxine Reid.

Founded in June 2016, Barnsley Body Shop, which trades as Fix Auto Barnsley, is part of nationwide motor body shop franchisor Fix Auto, serving customers in Barnsley, Huddersfield, Sheffield and Wakefield.

Business advisory firm Quantuma was appointed when the loss of a major insurer contract led to a significant overnight downturn in work, leading to an unsustainable position.

All business and assets of the company have been sold to Rolds Motor Bodies – which is also part of the Fix Auto network – including 10 employee contracts that have been transferred by way of TUPE.

Ahmed, partner at Quantuma, said: “I can confirm that Maxine Reid and I have completed the pre-pack sale of Fix Auto Barnsley after the company spiralled into a loss following the withdrawal of a significant stakeholder.

“As a subsidiary of Fix Auto, this deal will allow Rolds Motor Bodies to maintain the brand image within the region, whilst processing its nationwide insurance contracts through local branches, instead of having to send cars out of the region for repair.

“With 10 employee contracts set to be retained, this is the best possible outcome for all parties, so we are pleased to have advised on this deal.”

Helen Bates, insolvency director, Freeths, acted for the administrators at Quantuma in relation to the sale.
