City Briefs: Filtronic, Softcat

Global radio frequency engineering business Filtronic will hold its AGM today.

Trading at the Yeadon-headquartered business is in line with expectation for the first half of the financial year, to May 2020.

It said order levels across the sectors of public safety, 5G backhaul and defence products have all shown improvement over the first half of the previous financial year.

This has been supported by £1m investment to increase manufacturing and test capacity and is in addition to further investments in engineering resource to address opportunities.

IT infrastructure technology and services provider Softcat is continuing growth in its first quarter to October.

The firm which has a regional office in Leeds has delivered year on year growth in revenue gross profit and operating profit.

Graeme Watt, chief executive at Softcat, said: “Customer numbers and gross profit per customer were both up on the prior period, and we again saw growth across all areas of technology and customer segments.

“While it is still early in our new financial year, I’m confident we will achieve the goals we have set ourselves for 2020.”
