Strategy to increase construction rate is outlined by house building firm

House builder Miller Homes has outlined its plan to help contribute towards the total number of homes required in Yorkshire and Humber in the coming years.

The company says it intends to capitalise on its 2019 construction rate, with almost 650 homes planned per year by 2021.

Debbie Whittingham, sales director, Miller Homes Yorkshire, said: “There has been a significant increase in the homes we have delivered over the last couple of years and plans are in place to continue escalating this number across both rural and urban communities.

“Our team are well placed to succeed in the delivery of our vision and this not only includes the building of the homes, but the support we offer to buyers and the places in which we secure land so that our residents are part of a wider community.”

The house builder will unveil five further new developments in the first half of 2020 – The Lodge at City Fields, Wakefield, The Gables at City Fields in Wakefield, Spring Wood Park in Bramhope, Kings Park in Drighlington and Applewood in Mirfield. Plans for further developments in the latter half of the year are also underway.

In addition, many of the developments will make contributions to facilities in the community such as play areas, educational facilities and transport infrastructure.

In 2019 significant investments were made by the house builder in Yorkshire through Section 106 contributions, totalling a £1.48m investment.

Whittingham added: “2020 will allow us to join more communities where we have not had developments before and bring new ways to customers of reserving and making the choices within their individual homes.

“To support this ongoing growth, we will continue to invest in the infrastructure of the business ensuring we have skilled, knowledgeable and, above all, committed staff who uphold all that Miller Homes stands for.”

She said the business anticipates it will require additional construction staff and sub-contractors to facilitate its growth.
