Consent secured for major regeneration scheme

Planners have accepted proposals to build more than 260 homes, as well as a commercial unit, in the Leeds suburb of Kirkstall.

CBRE’s planning team in Leeds secured the consent for Artisan Real Estate for the redevelopment of Kirkstall Place, the former Kirkstall District Centre.

The development will provide a mix of housing, including 80 family town houses and 183 apartments providing one, two, three and four-bedroom accommodation.  It will be set within a landscaped environment providing amenity green space and new pedestrian routes.

Clive Wilding, property director from Artisan Real Estate, said: “It’s fantastic news that we’ve been given approval for our plans for the Kirkstall Place development.

“We look forward to delivering much needed housing on this key regeneration site in Kirkstall that has stood vacant for so many years.

“We hope the development will be a catalyst for the ongoing regeneration of Kirkstall by connecting the surrounding communities.”

Alison Mackay, senior planner at CBRE’s Leeds office, added: “CBRE is delighted to have secured a resolution to grant planning for the Kirkstall Place development on behalf of Artisan Real Estate and its investors for this key regeneration site in the heart of Kirkstall.

“The scheme will deliver much needed housing on a sustainable site within a high-quality landscape setting making best use of the challenging levels through innovative design.

“The project team, including Axis Architecture, Fore consulting and Oobe Landscape Architects, worked with Leeds City Council to develop the scheme which will provide a mix of residential accommodation in a very sustainable development location.”
