People: Cyber security expert hired; Firm takes on export sales manager; and more

Huddersfield-based Core Facility Services has strengthened its IT team with the appointment of cyber security expert Alec Jackson as IT manager.

Jackson is an experienced IT manager and financial accountant with a deep knowledge of cloud services and cyber crime prevention.

He will be responsible for the day to day running of Core’s IT division, which supports clients with IT managed services, data backup and security and comprehensive IT infrastructure planning and installation.

Colette Watts, managing director of Core, said: “Alec’s expertise in cyber security will be of huge value to our clients, particularly SMEs who are particularly vulnerable to this type of crime.

“His financial background means that as well as his technical skills he brings with him a thorough understanding of budgets, efficiency and risk management which ties in well with Core’s objectives of managing costs and compliance for clients.”

Jackson said: “I am particularly enjoying the strategic elements of the role and have already been involved in some interesting work at luxury Yorkshire hotel Grantley Hall, where we have been implementing state of the art network management systems.

“I am looking forward to supporting clients and helping to develop the IT team here at Core.”

Sheffield-based PCL has announced the appointment of a new export sales manager for Distribution Sales covering Northern and Southern Europe and Ireland.

With extensive, worldwide experience within the automotive sector, José Delgado brings a wealth of industry experience and expertise in export sales management to the PCL team.

A Spanish national, Delgado is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and English, and lives with his family in Northampton, making him well-positioned to travel between PCL’s HQ in Sheffield and to customers and distributors abroad.

Delgado said: “This is the right market for me and I was looking for a challenging new opportunity. Export is a priority for PCL and I have in-depth knowledge of the areas where I will be managing accounts, both geographically and in terms of market trends.

“PCL is a brand name I know and have been impressed with, so I look forward to driving forward sales of PCL’s market-leading tyre inflation and compressed air products.”

Sales director Lee Wright said: “José has considerable experience within the European and Irish markets he is appointed to.

The conference and events facilities for the University of Leeds, MEETinLEEDS, is bolstering its team with the appointment of a conference sales assistant role within its Sales and Marketing department.

The new addition will build on the university’s existing strengths in the conferencing industry.

Joining the team is Natalie Cherry, having recently completed her Masters degree at the University of Leeds.

She will be playing a vital role in helping clients explore and discover Leeds, as one of the top ten conferencing cities in the UK.

Previously, she worked as a student ambassador for the university, tasked with the role of showing around prospective students, as well as working at one of MEETinLEEDS’ most prestigious annual events, the Leeds International Summer School last year.

Cherry joins Lisa Wood, the sales executive on the MEETinLEEDS team, who together will be working closely with clients to find the perfect Leeds venue for their conferences and events.
