New homes set for former timber yard

A house builder has bought a former timber yard in Ripon.

Acting on behalf of Cairngorm Capital – owners of North Yorkshire Timber who closed their Ripon branch – the UK Development and Residential team at CBRE in Manchester secured the sale of this land to Red Tree Developments for an undisclosed sum.

The house builder plans to develop the 0.64 acre site on Trinity Lane for residential use.

The land was previously occupied by a timber merchants which ceased trading in 2018.

It currently features a two-storey brick built building totalling circa 100,000 sq ft with a storage yard.

Jessica Coombes, associate director, CBRE said: “We are delighted to secure the sale of this former timber yard to Red Tree Developments, especially in the current climate.

“The site is ripe for high quality residential development in a prime area close to the Yorkshire Dales in an area of outstanding natural beauty famous for its three peaks and deep valleys.

“It is also within walking distance of Ripon town centre with its wealth of services and amenities including doctor and dental surgeries and the Duck Hill shopping quarter.

“With excellent schools nearby, including Ripon Grammar and the Holy Trinity Junior School and a close-knit community feel, it is ideally placed for residential use.”
