New business wins fuel accountancy firm’s growth

Huddersfield-based cloud accountancy firm My Management Accountant is expanding after a number of new business wins.

Founder Martin Bown is looking to recruit another fully qualified accountant and has invested in a new website, in addition to running a free peer support group for businesses needing help during the Coronavirus outbreak.

At a time when other accountancy firms have placed employees on furlough, My Management Accountant has experienced a surge in demand, with revenue increasing by 25%.

Founded in 2013, the business is celebrating a raft of business wins, including a London-based print group and clients in the manufacturing sector.

Bown said: “While many other accountancy firms have placed staff on furlough, we are very much open for business – in fact, we are expanding and are looking to appoint another fully qualified accountant to the team.

“We’ve made sure our clients know we’re here supporting them through this crisis and beyond, and the beauty of cloud-based accounts is that we’re all able to access the same information at any time and from anywhere.

“Not only that, we can be more agile and are able to offer the same service now as when we are working from the office.”

In March, he and business partner Sara Whitton set up a support group for businesses impacted by Coronavirus. Since then, they have been hosting weekly calls to offer free financial advice.
