Nearly 30 job losses as coach supplier collapses

The largest independently owned distributor of new and used coaches in the UK, Moseley, has gone into administration with 29 people losing their jobs.

The 60-year-old Pontefract-based business is the official importer for new VDL, Beulas and Indcar coaches and supplies to operators across the tourism, transport and education sector.

It also supports customers with vehicle preparation, after sales and technical support.

Mark Hodgett and Phil Pierce from specialist business advisory firm FRP were appointed Joint Administrators of Moseley (PCV) Ltd on 16 June 2020.

A statement from the administrators explains: “The company had faced significant challenges in recent months following a reduction in its order book after the Coronavirus pandemic led customers to postpone or delay the purchase of new coaches.

“This, combined with the shutdown of the UK tourism sector and the restrictions put in place as a result of Coronavirus, led Moseley to operate in a limited capacity from March and ultimately enter administration.

“Following their appointment, the Joint Administrators are now marketing the business and its assets for sale.”

Eight employees have been retained to manage customer enquiries and support with after sales, as the joint administrators urgently seek a buyer.

Hodgett said: “Over the last 60 years Moseley has firmly established itself as an industry leader, renowned by customers across the UK for providing a high-quality service and best-in-class products.

“Our priority is now to ensure minimum disruption for customers as we market the business for sale, and I’d like to thank the firm’s employees for their continued support throughout this process.

“We will also be working closely with the Redundancy Payments Service to support those affected and would urge any other interested parties to contact us as soon as possible.”
