Co-op confirms opening date for new store

Central England Co-op has revealed the launch date of its new store in Doncaster.

The Society will officially open the store in High Street, Barnby Dun, on 3 July.

The store is on the site of the former Star Inn public house and will feature a customer car park with electric car charging points, a full range of products, a free water refill station, phone charging area, cash machine and customer toilet.

In line with the latest Government guidance, the store will have a range of social distancing measures in place, including floor markings, one-way system, external queuing, hygiene changes such as a hand sanitising station upon entry and safety devices such as plastic screens at checkouts and visors for all staff.

Barnby Dun Central England Co-operative store manager, Neil Holmes, said: “We are delighted that we will finally be opening the doors and welcoming the community into our brand new store in Barnby Dun.

“These are not the circumstances that we ever imagined launching this fantastic new store in, but we are looking forward to being there with the vital food and essentials locals need in these uncertain times and to being a part of a great community in Barnby Dun.”
