150-year-old cricket club goes into administration

Sporting fixtures will be going ahead as planned at Thorncliffe Cricket and Social Club in Chapeltown, Sheffield, after the organisation went into administration in its 150th anniversary year.

Adrian Graham and Ryan Holdsworth, of Sheffield business turnaround and insolvency practice Graywoods, have been appointed as joint administrators of the club, which is based in Lound Side at Chapeltown.

And they already have granted a licence which allows cricket to continue to be played at the ground without interruption.

Walker Singleton (Asset Management) Limited have been instructed to market the ground with the intention again that cricket can continue to be played.

“The club is very much at the heart of the Chapeltown community and as such we are keen that fixtures should be able to go ahead as planned,” said Graham.

“We are also anticipating that all the club’s creditors will be paid in full.”
