Employment and retail boost with store and petrol station opening

A new Fresh & Local petrol station and convenience store is set to officially mark its recent opening in Swarcliffe, Leeds, creating 15 new jobs in the process.

Store owner Subu Nanthakumar, who has been in retail for the past 20 years, will welcome Lord Mayor of Leeds Councillor Eileen Taylor to officially open the new look store on 7 September.

The store will be supplied by Costcutter which has a wholesale supply deal with Co-op. It will therefore be able to offer local shoppers access to a wide range of Co-op Own Brand products.

COVID-19 safety measures at the premises will include facilities so customers can sanitise their hands before and after shopping, a one-way system and clear signage and floor stickers to help shoppers keep a safe distance apart.

Nanthakumar said: “Now more than ever, I want to support our local community to ensure they have everything they need at this challenging time.

“I’m confident our new range and offering will really appeal to the local community.”
