Co-op stores to relaunch following £2m investment programme

Co-op is set to serve-up two new-look stores in the region next week following a combined investment of over £2m.

The stores on Headingley’s Cardigan Road (£950,000) and Baildon’s Northgate (£1.1m) will relaunch and support 37 and 39 jobs respectively, with three more staff joining the team in Baildon.

Cardigan Road, which will be open 24 hours six days a week and 12pm until 6pm on Sundays, reopens on Monday 7 December, offering online shopping from Deliveroo and Co-op’s own online store and Hermes parcel services.

Meanwhile, Baildon Co-op which relaunches on Thursday 10 December, will offer Amazon and John Lewis click and collect services, Costa Coffee point, PayPoint and car parking.

Derek Furnival, Co-op’s divisional managing director, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to make such a significant investment in West Yorkshire – both sites have been transformed and we are looking forward to welcoming communities in Headingley and Baildon back to their new-look stores.

“Co-op is committed to connecting communities and making a difference locally, and our aim is to operate at the heart of local life.

“That is why we also want customers to know that they can become a member of their Co-op, and they can make a difference every time they swipe their membership card when buying own branded products.”
