Hotel purchase expands family-run group’s portfolio

A hotel in Bradford has been sold to growing, family-run hotel business JDP Hotels Group.

Specialist business property advisor, Christine & Co, has completed on the sale of the Best Western Bradford Guide Post Hotel.

Located on the south side of Bradford, two miles from the M62, The Guide Post Hotel is a well-established weddings and function venue.

It features 42 recently refurbished bedrooms and suites, a 20-cover bar, a fully licensed restaurant with space for 85-covers and two large conference and events suites.

Previous owner, Alexander Guthe, owned and operated the hotel since 1998 but made the decision to sell to pursue other property ventures.

JDP Hotels plans to continue to run the Guide Post Hotel under the current umbrella of Best Western, with the existing management team remaining in place.

Group member, Pratik Paw, said, “Despite the difficult times, our group have confidence in the recovery of the hospitality sector in the medium term, particularly established hotels with a good reputation and a proven onsite management team, such as the Guide Post Hotel.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome the hotel and its team into our group.”

The Guide Post Hotel was marketed by David Lee, regional director in Christie & Co’s Hospitality team.

Lee said: “We were delighted to work with the owners of this hotel and achieve a sale in a short period of time.

“Marketing commenced in October 2020 and there were a number of interested parties. A transaction completing in less than six months from instruction to completion is an achievement we are proud of.

“We would like to thank Mr Guthe for the opportunity to sell his hotel and would very much like to wish JDP Hotels every success in their new venture.

“The market for selling hotels as demonstrated by this sale remains surprisingly robust considering the macro environment.”

Other properties in JDP Hotels Group portfolio include the Best Western Hotel St Pierre in Wakefield and The Beaufort Park Hotel and Conference Centre in Mold, North Wales.
