Listed energy specialist launches recruitment drive

Sheffield-based energy storage and clean fuel company ITM Power is looking to take on up to 80 qualified and experienced engineers.

They will join a workforce of around 230 as part of the expansion drive kicked off by the growing demand worldwide for its green hydrogen production products and will be based at the company’s newly opened Gigafactory at Bessemer Park.

The site which is already operation and began shipping orders earlier this month, is the largest electrolyser factory in the world.

ITM Power is looking to fill a range of engineering posts, including technical project managers, electrical engineers, chemists, manufacturing engineers and field engineers.

Dr Graham Cooley, CEO, said: “We believe that the manufacturing of the machinery necessary to help the world through the energy transition should be based here in the UK.

“We now have all the resources we need – capacity, finances and customer demand – to be able to provide rewarding roles to more and more people. We’ve come a long way.”

ITM Power is one of the businesses taking part in the upcoming Invest North virtual conference. Andy Allen the firm’s CFO will be taking part in a panel on called Accelerating Change With Green Transport. He will be joined by Warrick Dent, operations director, LNER; Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe, chair, West Yorkshire Combined Authority; and Dame Sarah Storey, active travel commissioner, Sheffield City Region.
