Former halls of residence to become home to 115 new houses

A 9.68 acres site that was previously student accomodation at the University of Hull is set to be transformed into housing.

The site which has been put up for sale by the University is allocated in the East Riding Local Plan for residential use and has a capacity for between 96 to 116 homes.

The primary area for development is to the north side of the site, where the Ferens Hall accommodation block stands. The site is bordered by further former university halls of residence and parkland to the west, called The Lawns, and Cottingham High School & Sixth Form beyond.

Matthew Jones, director in Savills’ Leeds-based development team, who is handling the sale, said: “The availability of Ferens Hall presents an exciting opportunity to develop a sympathetic and impressive new build residential scheme and is likely to be of interest to house builders and residential developers.

“The site itself is in a desirable, open and highly attractive parkland setting and represents a truly unique opportunity. Located in the popular village of Cottingham it benefits from being close to a well-regarded school and is in close proximity to Cottingham railway station and road links, we are anticipating a great deal of interest in this site.”
