New regional director at Muse looks to rethink regeneration

James Pitt - regional director, Muse Developments

Muse Developments, one of the UK’s best at delivering innovative, repurposed regeneration in towns and cities, has signalled its intent to grow and expand in Yorkshire and the North East, with the appointment of James Pitt, former development director at Evans Property Group as regional director.

Pitt, who will also join Muse’s management team, brings 30 years’ experience to the firm from his previous roles at Jones Lang LaSalle, Akeler Developments and Goodman International, where he took executive-level responsibility for both delivery of major projects, while significantly growing development pipelines.

Across a wide and varied career, he has worked on major mixed-use schemes including, most recently, Skelton Gate, which is delivering over 1,700 homes and Gateway 34 the 157-acre logistics hub in the Leeds City Region Enterprise Zone.

Matt Crompton, managing director of Muse said: “I’m delighted to welcome James to the team, where he will add his considerable experience to grow our Yorkshire and North East portfolio exponentially in line with our strategy.

“As a business, we’re committed to working with progressive partners across the UK, to deliver our unique brand of repurposed and sustainable regeneration to create diverse, vibrant and connected places. We continue to work hard with our local authority partners to help them achieve place-changing regeneration, new investment and drive prosperity right into the heart of their communities.”

Pitt, added: “Coming out of the pandemic, there’s never been a greater need to rethink the regeneration of our towns and cities. I’m delighted to be able to join Muse, who’ve been at the forefront of the repurposing agenda for over 35 years.

“I’ll be joining a very experienced team based in Leeds, responsible for delivering the award-winning Logic Leeds logistics hub, the mixed-use Merchant Gateway scheme, along with a number of striking, yet purposeful schemes right across Yorkshire and the North East. As a team, we’re driven with a common goal to work with our local authority and private partners to repurpose their towns and cities, while delivering direct benefits to communities.”
