Leeds-based telecoms provider Northern Telecom has announced the expected creation of 11 new jobs as it completes its fourth acquisition in three years and the third since the start of the pandemic.

It has acquired Otley-based IT support and security specialist, Soda Consulting.

Founded in 2014, Soda has developed a West Yorkshire customer base, predominantly in the legal, retail and financial services sectors.

Northern Telecom managing director, Jon Graves, said he sees real growth opportunity as a result of the acquisition.

He added: “Northern Telecom has grown significantly over the last few years, but for some time we’ve understood that there is huge potential to expand our services beyond that of a traditional telecoms provider.

“In Soda we see a great product offering that hasn’t yet been able to break out from West Yorkshire and service clients further afield.

“With Northern Telecom we have a firm with a nationwide footprint that hasn’t yet tapped into the IT support and
managed services market.

“The synergy between Northern Telecom and Soda means we’ll be able to offer a compelling combined telecoms and IT support offering in the north of England and beyond that will enable us to reach our goal of serving 1,000 UK businesses and Government organisations by the end of 2021.”
