Icelandic sports tech firm sets sights on Yorkshire

Following an exceptional year of growth in 2020, the Icelandic sports tech firm, Sideline Sports – XPS Network has announced it will be expanding its operations further across the UK market from its new London offices.

Speaking exclusively to TheBusinessDesk.com the team noted that they have set their sights on the region as “a high growth potential area” and is looking for opportunities with the region’s football, cricket and rugby teams with plans for an office in the region in 2022.

Founded in 2001, XPS Network has developed market-leading software for sports coaches, clubs and is on course for 20% growth in the UK market alone over the next 12 months.

The business has been described as a “one-stop-shop for clubs, organisations and sports academies”, with the platform already being adopted by thousands of professional and grassroots sporting organisations – including the Danish football Association.

Leading the company’s UK expansion is Tom Malins, a football coach and XPS customer before joining the company as country manager for the UK & Ireland.

Mallins explained: “We are excited to not only enter the UK market but specifically Yorkshire and the North of England, a community that thrives on its sport at all levels with passion and commitment from grassroots to the professional game. We’re currently looking at opening an office both in Yorkshire and the North East early 2022 to help us realise our plans for expansion.”

He added that although they are unable to reveal specific names, XPS Network is in talks with a number of professional and grassroots sports teams in the North of England, including Yorkshire
