Store launch for bed and mattress retailer

Bensons for Beds has moved into a new store in Hull as part of the nationwide retailer’s transformation following a £25m investment a year ago.

The bed and mattress retailer has taken a lease at St Andrews Quay Retail Park, Clive Sullivan Way, where neighbours include B&Q, Wren Kitchens and DFS.

The store opened on Saturday 14 August. To mark the opening, Bensons will roll out its signature purple carpet on Saturday and Sunday 21 and 22 August.

Bensons has moved a few yards from its previous location on St Andrews Quay which it had shared with Harveys until June last year when Bensons became a standalone company.

At 6,100 sq ft, the new store employs five staff and is better suited to showcasing the range of beds and mattresses on offer from brands including Slumberland, iGel, Tempur and Sealy.

The retailer says this investment shows its commitment to Hull, as the city undergoes an ambitious regeneration programme.

Bensons’ managing director for retail, Alan Williams, said: “Hull is a great location for us and we’re looking forward to being part of its exciting future.

“The new store will allow us to display our best ranges more effectively and make sure that customers make the right choice.”

The store will be run by manager Mike Downs, who has been with the business for eight years at stores including Hull and Doncaster.
