Apartments planned for large office complex

An office complex near Bingley could be converted into nearly 140 apartments.

Bradford Council is considering proposals to convert both Aire Valley House and neighbouring building The Hive, on Croft Road, Crossflatts, from office space to residential use.

Aire Valley House is a four-storey office building off Aire Valley Road, while the neighbouring Hive building is two storeys tall.

If the redevelopment gains consent, Aire Valley House would be turned into 111 flats with another 28 in The Hive.

The apartments will range from studio apartments to three bed flats, and there would also be a gym on each floor.

The site features 479 parking spaces along with 142 internal cycle parking spaces and 142 “short stay” cycle parking spaces.

A transport statement submitted as part of the application says there will be fewer car journeys to and from the building if it switches from office to residential use, noting: “The proposed change of use will generate significantly fewer vehicle trips both during the network peak hours and throughout the day.

“The proposed apartments will therefore not result in a material impact on the operation of the local highway network.

“There are no reasons on highways or transport grounds why the change of use should not be acceptable.”
