Leadership change and bigger premises for laundry products company

Tom Abbey

Barnsley-based Cares Laboratory Ltd, which makes the Vamoosh® brand of laundry products, says its co-founder Tom Abbey will step into the role of managing director with immediate effect.

This comes as the company move to larger 9,000 sq ft premises in Barnsley, as part of its continued expansion.

With Vamoosh® products already sold in over 2,500 retail stores across the UK including B&M, Pets at Home and The Range, Abbey will join fellow co-founder Dave Toms in leading the company into its next phase of growth.

This will include increased retail reach, new product development and export.

Abbey’s new position as managing director comes on the back of the sale of his specialist ink company, Magna Colours, which was sold to US-headquartered Avient Corporation in a multi-million pound deal in July this year.

Abbey said: “I’m delighted to be moving into the role of managing director at Cares and I’m looking forward to getting more involved in the day-to day running of the business and helping the Vamoosh® brand and product portfolio continue on its rapid expansion path.

“My new role will allow my fellow director and co-founder Dave Toms to focus more on the development of new innovative laundry products while I will concentrate on driving more retail reach both in the UK and in Europe.”

Cares Laboratory is focused on inventing and developing innovative laundry and cleaning products that solve everyday problems.

Dave Toms, director and co-founder of the firm, added: “We have seen huge growth in the business over the last two years and we have put a solid foundation in place for future growth.

“With Tom joining us as managing director along with the move to our new larger premises, we are in the perfect position to achieve our ambitious growth plans.”
