Investment secured for historic visitor attraction

Worsbrough Mill, a visitor attraction in Barnsley, now boasts a new shop, visitor space and micro bakery, amongst other changes.
Earlier this year the 17th century water mill, received a grant from the Culture Recovery Fund which has made important developments to the site possible.
The money was used to create a visitor space and shop, a new volunteer hub within a derelict historic space for the mill’s volunteers to use, a micro bakery which will regularly sell bread made from flour milled on site and extend the on-site café to enable more visitors to sit inside.
As well as funding enhancements to the attraction, the grant also allowed for important checks to be conducted on the mill’s machinery, which has been working at full capacity throughout the pandemic.
Councillor Tim Cheetham, cabinet spokesman for place (regeneration and culture) said: “Worsbrough Mill and Country Park is such an asset to the borough offering both a wonderful day out but also an important home to significant wildlife and habitats.
“It’s visited by hundreds of thousands of people every year and to have developments such as this, which will make it an even more special place to visit, is great to see.”
