A well-known Yorkshire solicitor, Mark Jones, has joined the Private Client Department at North and East Yorkshire law firm, Harrowells.

Jones has more than 30 years’ experience in private client work in Yorkshire and spent 25 years as a partner in two of Harrogate’s longest-established town centre law firms as well as in a Leeds city practice.

He is among the longest serving members of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), a member of the Private Client Section of the Law Society and will work out of Harrowells’ offices in Thirsk and St Saviourgate, York city centre.

His expertise includes tax planning, the creation and administration of family trusts, drafting wills and estate administration, as well as handling contentious trust and estate work for families in dispute.

He also acts as a trustee, attorney and Court of Protection deputy for clients.

Jones said: “I’ve known Harrowells from my legal training in York in the 1980s and I’ve watched with great interest as the firm has expanded in North and East Yorkshire. I’m delighted to be part of the ideal practice to meet the needs of my existing clients and contacts and be involved in its development plans.”

Harrowells Solicitors offers legal services to commercial, farming and private clients. The firm has three offices in York and other bases in Easingwold, Thirsk, Malton and Pocklington.

Real estate developer and investor Scarborough Group International (SGI) has appointed Rachel Vickers as senior commercial manager within its property team following the promotion of Adam Varley to development director.

Vickers is the Group’s seventh new recruit in the last 12 months.

She previously held positions at Colliers International, Hermes (Parcelnet) and Lambert Smith Hampton. Vickers has six years’ experience in property acquisition and disposal services, as well as corporate real estate advisory services.

Working alongside Varley and senior development manager, Jack Abou-Jaoude, Vickers will lead on the asset management and leasing strategy for SGI’s major development and investment projects across the UK.

She said: “I’ve long-had huge respect for Scarborough Group, so to have the opportunity to join the team at such an exciting time was an opportunity I couldn’t refuse.

“I’m looking forward to playing a key role in realising the full potential of so many large-scale development and investment projects and proactively help drive forward SGI’s future growth aspirations.”

Fiona Gell, an experienced marketing and communications professional, has joined the management team at the Sunny Bank Mills complex in Farsley, near Leeds.

Gell arrives at Sunny Bank Mills, from the Leeds Library. She said: “This is a tremendously exciting opportunity for me and I am proud to be joining a close-knit and talented team.

“I’m very much looking forward to telling our stories. There’s so much here to get involved with – be that through our wonderful tenants, our fabulous Art Gallery or the heritage treasure that is our Archive. It’s a very exciting time to be at the Mills.”

Swillington-based lubricants manufacturer, ROCOL, is reinforcing its support for UK customers with the appointment of a new metalworking fluid chemist.

Daniel Moulson studied Chemistry at Sheffield Hallam University before starting his career with in the cosmetics industry.

Working first in quality control, he continued his career there as a microbiologist.

He joins the technical department at ROCOL where his primary role is to work with the service engineers to offer advice and recommendations for the efficient running of metalworking equipment.

Moulson is also the first point of contact for customers with issues that cannot be fixed on-site and require deeper investigation.

He said: “Being given the opportunity to work with high-quality products and deliver the great levels of service that ROCOL customers have come to expect is something that excites me a lot.

“Joining ROCOL allows me to apply the knowledge and skills and knowledge that I have from both university and my career so far in a way that will be beneficial to customers. It also allows me to develop new skills and learn from an experienced team.”
