Brunch spot to open its second venue this weekend

Brunch venue House of Koko has revealed plans to open a second venue in Roundhay’s Oakwood, Leeds.

Opening on 4 March, House of Koko Oakwood will take over the venue which was Hessian, while maintaining its Chapel Allerton branch too.

House of Koko says it will continue to deliver on its brunch offering. And Hessian’s staff will remain, keeping local knowledge and friendly faces for the premises’ regulars as the venue evolves.

By April, the business explains that it will also be opening in the evenings, offering a supper menu of small plates alongside wine and cocktails – and perhaps even DJs.

Owner Rosita Roger said: “We’re so excited to expand into another exciting Leeds foodie suburb. This up-and-coming area already has some fab foodie offerings, and we’re so happy to be joining the club.

“Establishing ourselves as a regular evening venue is also an exciting new step for us, and a challenge we are ready to meet head-on.”

She added House of Koko will continue its commitment to sourcing local produce at its Oakwood venue.

Roger said: “Once we have the evenings up and running, hopefully in April, we’ll be using a good friend of mine – Leng Libation – for cocktails.

“We’ll have some local breweries on tap and some great organic wine. We’re also planning ‘picnic packages’ for the summer.”

The business will continue to serve up vegan options alongside both healthy and indulgent brunch dishes, from the likes of Turkish eggs to maple syrup-smothered banana and pecan pancakes.

And it will host more of its eclectic food events and pop-ups with other chefs and suppliers at its Oakwood venue.
