Clarion celebrates 15 years of the Leeds 10K Corporate Challenge

Leeds’ law firm Clarion is celebrating 15 years of sponsorship of one of the region’s biggest corporate sporting challenges – the Leeds 10K Corporate Challenge.

The company has supported the Leeds 10K Corporate Challenge since it was first held in 2007 and will again sponsor the event in 2022.

Taking place this year on Sunday 3 July, the event has grown into one of the highlights of the business events calendar, with over 700 runners from various firms across Leeds and Yorkshire participating each year.

Open to teams of at least five members (with no upper limit on participant numbers), the goal of the challenge is for each team member to reach the 10K finish line, with the winning team having the fastest combined time. Over the years, various teams of all abilities have battled for the title of Leeds 10K corporate champions.

The event is fierce, fun, and a fantastic way for companies to strengthen their teamwork following various lockdowns and engage in friendly race-day rivalry, all while raising money for many deserving charities.

The corporate challenge takes place as part of one of the region’s most loved events – the Leeds 10K.

Started by Jane Tomlinson in 2007, the Leeds 10K was her lasting legacy event. Having raised £1.8m for charity while she was battling terminal cancer, in 2006 Jane knew her time left to fundraise was limited. As a result, she decided to set up the Leeds 10K to continue the fundraising vehicle for charities that she had started.

Over the last 15 years the Leeds 10K has grown to become one of the highlights of the city’s events calendar, and is a hugely popular, inclusive and supported race for participants of all abilities.

Roger Hutton, Clarion’s joint managing partner, said: “The 10k is one of the highlights of the year for us and we are very proud to have supported the event and Run For All for the past 15 years.

“We encourage the Leeds business community to come together and make this the best and biggest year yet.  We look forward to running with you all.”

Erin Jones, marketing and communications manager at Run For All, said: “All of us here at Run For All are extremely grateful to Clarion for their continuous support of the Leeds 10K Corporate Challenge.

“It is great to have seen the event grow over the last 15 years with the support from Clarion, and the fundraising opportunities it has generated.

“The company’s commitment and support over the years has been instrumental in helping the Leeds 10K become the event it is today, and making our corporate challenge one of the region’s most loved events in the business calendar.”

To mark its 15th year, the Leeds 10K has revealed a new route. Traditionally following a course along Kirkstall Road and back to the city centre, participants will now be able to enjoy new city sights as the route changes for the first time since 2015.

Starting at the Parkinson Steps at the University of Leeds, the route goes through Headingley and then into Meanwood before winding back past the First Direct Arena and finishing outside Leeds Art Gallery on The Headrow.

The 2022 Leeds 10K Corporate Challenge takes place alongside the main event on Sunday 3 July.
