Care home opening to create 60 jobs

Sid Bailey, a new 66-bed care home in Brampton, near Barnsley, has opened its doors.

It was officially opened at a ribbon cutting ceremony by MP John Healey and Adele Riles, daughter of Sid Bailey.

The new care home, developed on a previously derelict site after gaining consent last year, forms part of the Danforth Care Home Group.

As well as offering residential, dementia and respite care, it also features coffee shops, garden rooms, a library, a cinema and a hair and beauty salon.

Home manager, Sue Ravenhall, said: “The home will support every resident who lives here and their families and be an asset to the whole community. The new facility will create 60 purposeful jobs for the area, as well as being a carbon free home operating without gas.

“The home is industry leading in every way, from the bespoke individual centred care to the design of the building.”

“It is important for us that the residents feel encouraged and supported to make their own choices and have control over decisions. All care is personalised and delivered with dignity and respect.”

Healey added: “I’ve been following the progress of the building works after the plans for the care home were approved last year.

“It’s great to see that work is complete and that a former derelict site is being brought back into use.

“The new care home is a welcome addition to the area and it’s good to see it’s also creating local jobs in and around Brampton.”
