Group appoints director to develop holiday, student projects

Artium Group has appointed former Student Castle director Andrew Maxwell as property director and shareholder as it rolls out short-let and student accommodation projects.

The Harrogate property manager, investor and construction firm, founded in 2021, is to roll out initiatives including Allure Holiday Lettings and Alteza Student Accommodation.

Allure will initially operate in Harrogate through a management portfolio of 30 quality properties before expanding rapidly. With the financial strength to acquire, develop and operate lettings, Artium Property Management is in a strong position to further capitalise on a sector boosted by the continuing post-pandemic popularity of UK breaks and staycations, allied with increasing numbers of properties entering the market and improving nightly rates.

Alongside these brands, Maxwell will help integrate a pipeline of assets from across the group into Artium Property Management, driving new opportunities and helping to develop and grow the team.

Working with other experts from across the group, including Artium Construction, he will also provide expert consultancy to developers, contractors and operators on the Building Safety Act 2022, which has been introduced to improve the safety of developments during the construction process.

Maxwell said, “I am delighted to have joined Artium Group and am excited about this opportunity to help build the Property Management division alongside a talented and highly skilled team.

“Artium shares my ambitions to further develop our capabilities, ensuring we continue to maximise opportunities for our clients, investors and partners through our market leading end-to-end capability and proven track record.”

Prior to joining Artium Property Management, Maxwell spent 12 years as operations director at Student Castle, a provider of high-end student accommodation operating throughout the UK, where he led the successful development of 12 substantial new buildings as well as integrating more than 5,000 beds into the portfolio following the acquisition by another company in 2019.

Thomas Shotton, director and co-owner of Artium Group alongside Sam Colley, added: “The senior appointment of Andrew is an extremely positive step for Artium Group and further evidences our capability and commitment to acquire, develop and operate high performing real estate assets for the long-term benefit of our investors and partners. We have ambitious growth plans across the business and Andrew’s experience and expertise will be invaluable as we work together to achieve these.”
