Health care provider opens £4.3m specialist care home

Exemplar Health Care, a provider of specialist nursing care for adults living with complex and acute needs, has marked the official opening of Wheldale Heights, its new £4.3m care home in Castleford, West Yorkshire.

Wheldale Heights is the fourth home operated by this care provider in the region, as it responds to a growing demand for specialised care across West Yorkshire.

It will support adults living with complex mental health needs and neuro-disabilities, including Huntington’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.

Following extensive refurbishment, the home is now split into two, 12-bed communities. It also features communal dining and living spaces, sensory bathrooms and a garden for residents and visitors.

The home has created 80 new healthcare jobs in the local area, with recruitment currently ongoing for a few remaining care assistant roles.
